Those found have been on warm clay banks facing west shaded by Oaks.Not directly exposed to the sun unlike Hydnellum concrescens.
Other suitable sites have been checked but none seen yet

This years specimens are slim flat top versions.Not the fist-size ones of previous years.Gordon Dickson did say ,some years ago,that there could well be sub-species ,undescribed at the moment, in "toothed" fungi
