The curse of duplication is no more!

One of the perennial problems of databases, and mycological ones are no exception, is the introduction of unwarranted duplications. Recently this was brought home to me having received a dataset of some 10,000 records and discovering that some 2,000 were duplications, and in some cases triplicate entries.

CATE now has a system in place that automatically sniffs out and eliminates any incoming records for which there are exact matches in the species_id, synoynm_id, date, assoc_org_id, medium_id, ecosystem_id, grid_ref columns.
