The national UK fungal records database of the ABFG

CATE2 users may find it helpful to know that the database is now being formally recognised by the UK Biological Records Centre, based with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, at Wallingford. BRC is the UK focus for terrestrial species recording, and is the national custodian of data on the distribution of wildlife in the British Isles.

BRC now provides both contact details, and a 'clean link' to CATE2 as one of two national species recording schemes for fungi in the UK. This will, I hope, silence occasional critics who grumble that CATE is not on the NBN Trust Gateway, which is primarily because the CATE2 digital technology makes it difficult to transfer data to an older analogue-type system still used by NBN.
