Sarcodon scabrosus

I took a peek at a known site for Sarcodon scabrosus today, and found some decaying specimens, and a few fresh ones. This is described as autumnal, but round here it is more of a summer species. It is surprisingly rare too with relatively few records.

Nice fine, Leif.

Lovely images on your website for the 2008/9 finds. Do you have any for this new collection?

No Chris, I only popped over on the way home from work, as I suspected it fruited in summer. The current ones are not in good condition, so not worth a photo. The ones on my site were in pristine condition. I tend to only photograph fungi in good nick, unless very very rare.
