Residential learning courses

In 2007 the Association ran two highly successful residential courses aimed at both beginners and people who already have a grounding in learning about fungi but want to gain more practical experience. This year the number of these courses is being expanded to four in conjunction with our partners, Warner Leisure Hotels.

Dates are as follows:

  • Thoresby Hall Hotel near Nottingham - Sept 29th - October 2nd
  • Cricket St Thomas Hotel near Chard, Somerset - October 6th - 8th
  • Littlecote Hotel, Berkshire - October 13th - 15th
  • Holme Lacy Hotel near Hereford - October 20th - 22nd

Each course runs for two full days Tuesday and Wednesday, with an introductory welcome on the Monday evening. Each course comprises at least two mushroom forays in some glorious surroundings and two easy-going workshops. If you want to obtain a good grounding in fungi recognition, this is an excellent way of achieving your aim among friendly people with a shared interest. The days are relaxed and intended to be recreational as well as putting you on a learning curve.

Each course is led by Michael Jordan, the CEO of the ABFG.

The cost at these prestigious country hotels includes half board (+packed lunch) and a range of additional recreational facilities and evening entertainment. Discounts are available to ABFG members.
