Hello,

I am about to mix up some KOH solutions using flakes and wanted to ask what is the most suitable material (bottle) to store them in?

I have seen some bottles in a hiking shop that appeal and have a brand name of 'Nalgene' on them. Would this be suitable?

Hello Andrew,

I would store KOH (especially when it is higher concentrated) in brown glass bottles. You get those certainly in any pharmacy. You can also store it in plastic bottles or containers, but it must be a plastic that is suitable for chemicals. This is very important, as there might migrate certain ingredients of plastic bottles into the potassium and make it unuseable.
