Is there a way of recording Gliophorus psittacina var. perplexa on CATE2?
Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue
According to FRDBI, Hygrocybe psittacina var. perplexa is no longer an accepted variety. It's now just Gliophorus psittacinus.

Thanks for clarifying this Chris. After much trawling of the internet I had wondered if it would be G europerplexus.

Dear Sue,
I understand that H. psittacina var. perplexa is one of those unresolved taxa that Kew is interested in. If you have a good collection and photographs then it would be worth contacting Martyn Ainsworth at Kew to see if he would like the collection for sequencing.
G. europerplexus is a different species.
Best regards, David.

Sue
you could record it with that name and the current name in CATE the FRDBI and Index Fungorum would end up as Gliophorus perplexa.
