Xerocomus? ID help, please

Several in various stages of growth near to lime tree, oak not far away. All have a spindle-shaped stipe, with a bulbous base, pale cream basal mycelium. When cut the cap flesh flushed pale pink and the flesh at the top of the stem slightly discoloured greenish after 10 minutes. I've followed the key in THE GENUS XEROCOMUS article from Field Mycology and thought it could be X chrysenteron (but that doesn't quite fit) can't reach an ID, unfortunately no access to microscopy.

Looks like pruinatus to me, but don't take my non-miscroscope-using word for it! Any reason why you don't think it is pruinatus?

And I believe it is technically called Xerocomellus these days.

Thanks Geoff. I agree, they do look like pruinatus but according to books and sites I checked, cap flesh is supposed to 'slowly turn blue-green when cut' which these did not, they went noticeably pink every time, although the colour faded after a while.

With a bit of adjustment in Photoshop it does seem to show pink in the cap and blue at the top of the stem. The only species with these characteristics is X bubalinus.

Thanks guys
Hopefully you can see the colours better on these pictures? The first one was just cut, second after 24 hours.

Would you all agree that it is X bubalinus?

I will stick with bubalinus after seeing that first photo.
