Is focused foraging for edible fungi justifiable?

I came across this and thought people here might be interested. CABI is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to "improve people’s lives by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment." They are interested in protecting both food security and biodiversity. There is now a CABI-sponsored online database of edible and poisonous fungi from all around the world. It is a very simple, no-bells-and-whistles database, but if you're interested in what fungi people have claimed are edible and/or poisonous (and there are a surprising number which are both), going back to records from the 19th century, and from all over the world, then take a look at this: http://www.wildusefulfungi.org/
